The
Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is a member of the Hospital Executive Team. Responsible for integration, coordination and direction
of nursing and patient care within the overall operation of the hospital. Directs nursing and patient care to ensure the delivery
of high-quality and cost-effective health care consistent with the mission, vision and values of the company and in accordance
with government regulations, licensing and accreditation requirements. The CNO participates in the hospital’s strategic
planning and contributes to the achievement of institutional goals and objectives. The CNO promotes a culture of Service Excellence
with all customer groups.
Certification
in a specialty of choice desirable.
Current
license or permit to practice professional nursing in the state of employment.
BSN
and Masters required
Demonstrated
working knowledge of nursing clinical practices and management. Extensive knowledge of principles and practices relevant to
nursing and patient care activities. Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices. Highly developed
written and verbal communication skills.
Interpersonal
skills for working closely with others on a team. Ability to plan, direct. Control and monitor others’ activities. Demonstrates
leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment. Promotes mutual respect and professionalism in working
relationships.
Demonstrated
proficiency with common computer based applications such as electronic mail, word processing and various databases, whether
PC, network or mainframe based.
Five
or more years of nursing management or supervisor experience in a clinical acute care setting. Experience to include fiscal/budget
management responsibilities.
Occasional
US travel to conferences and management meetings.
· Previous experience in a Senior Nursing leadership role within the last 3 to 5
years.
· BSN required
· MSN or other Masters degree required (MSN highly preferred)
· Current State RN license required
· Strong acute care nursing operations experience
· Strong physician relations skills
· Strong customer service skills
· Strong leadership and communications skills
